Frank the bandit Balmullo Inn Golf Society Pitreavie 18th hole

July 2009

After last year’s downpour, we headed down to Pitreavie with some trepidation this month, a good turnout of 19 headed off towards a black sky and a forecast of heavy rain, however despite a couple of showers at the start, it turned into a sunny and warm day.

In a close competition Frank Sidey came out the winner with Harry Black in second, Leitch Douglas was this month’s Hidden Hole winner and the winning Yellow Ball team were George Wilkinson, Paul Fenwick and Billy Simpson. Paul Fenwick was the most accurate at the 12th hole to win Nearest the Pin and a mention to Peter Colford who managed the society’s first hole in one. This month’s winner of the Bandit’s hat was Frank Sidey.

Next month we’re off to Kirkcaldy to play at Dunnikier Park this eighteen-hole golf course was formed in 1963, the course measures 6532 yards, with a par of 72. The course presents a fair challenge for every calibre of golfer. The 'signature' hole of the course is The Dip, the 368 yard 7th, a short downhill par 4 with the spectacular surround of large mature trees. Elsewhere on the course, magnificent views of the Lomond Hills may be observed.
