It seems to be par for the course these days that we have trouble staging the January, outing due to weather, and this month’s trip to Drumoig Golf Center was no exception with the strong wind and forecast of heavy rain, the original booking of sixteen was reduced to eleven hardy souls, (twelve if you include the captain who turned up without his clubs), of which only eight finished the eighteen holes.

Congratulations must therefore go to Jim Sidey for not only braving the eighteen holes but winning, beating Harry Black on the back nine, Harry Black also managed to be accurate in winning nearest the pin and Paul Fenwick scored best at the Hidden Holes, the Yellow Ball Competition was won by Harry Black, Paul Fenwick, Graeme Buchan and Tam Thaw. The Bandits hat goes to Jim Sidey for being our first plus handicapper.

Next month on the 1st February we head to the Jubilee Course at St Andrews Links. This course, considered to the the toughest test of golf at St Andrews, was originally a 12 hole course opened in 1897 and named to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. In 1905 this course was extended to 18 holes and has hosted tournaments such as the Scottish Amateur Strokeplay Championship, the Boys' Home International and the British Mid-Amateur Championship.
