This has been a good year for the society with numbers keeping almost up to last year’s record levels. This was despite some pretty awful weather, would you believe we were snowed off in April, played winter greens in January and frost delayed in October and November, and at time of writing Decembers outing has been postponed. This is not to mention the heavy rain on several occasions.

The Championship this year was at Balburnie Park with 20 competing, a close competition was won by Harry Black, beating Billy Simpson to Second place, this was followed by the usual meal and hilarity at the days events.

The monthly Stableford competition was as usual shared out (helped by Nicol McNair’s handicap cuts), Willie Rattery was the only player to win twice in the year in February and October the other winners were John Cox, Rob Williamson, Paul Fenwick, Nicol McNair, Ed Wallace, George Wilkinson, Gordon Laing, Harry Black and Eric Boyd. The runner up spot was also shared around with only Nicol McNair managing both a first and second in the year, although Billy Simpson managed three runner-up spots and Graeme Buchan managed twice. Jim Sidey, Nicol McNair and Harry Black all managed to win two nearest the pin prizes with John Cox and Pete Colford being the luckiest winning the Hidden hole prize twice. Twenty players were in the yellow ball teams with Billy Simpson, Dave Miller, Harry Black and George Wilkinson all winning three times. The Bandits hat was also shared out with only Nicol McNair winning twice.

Finally I would like to thank Harry Black for all his efforts in organising and booking the outings and also Ash at Balmullo Inn for letting us hold our meetings and debates in the pub.
